As an Occupational Therapist working in Mental Health, several things became abundantly clear early in my career.
First, that the spectrum between ill mental health and chronic mental illness is vast, and that the services which exist for individuals with chronic mental illness could benefit all of us. Secondly, that the difference between good mental health (wellbeing) and ill mental health is the opportunity to understand ourselves within our context, including our culture, values, occupations and relationships.
From this, the ideas for GYFT were formed; strongly influenced by the importance of wanting to provide a service that doesn’t ascribe to any one theory or practice, but instead, holistic and based around the importance of an individual’s unique values, sense of purpose and what they need.
I bring my experience, therapeutic and leadership skills to work alongside individuals seeking to develop a greater understanding of themselves and work towards their goals and potential.
